77-Year-Old Woman Recovered From Pancreatic Cancer
Hatice Bilsel, a 77-year-old living in Mersin, applied to the hospital for a high fever. In the examinations, it was found that Birsel had pancreatic cancer, and the bile ducts were blocked due to the mass. Birsel needed to have Whipple surgery. Birsel who survived the tumor with surgery performed by Prof. Dr. Alihan Gürkan and his team from Memorial Antalya Hospital Department of General Surgery regained her health.
Gülsün Hanım the daughter of Hatice Bilsel “I knew that Whipple surgery was a very important procedure and a surgery that could cause complications afterward. As a result of my research I learned that Prof. Dr. Alihan Gürkan had a very important experience in this area, and without hesitation, I took my mother and brought her to Antalya,” said.
Prof. Dr. Alihan Gürkan “It should be remembered that Whipple is the savior of elderly patients and that only a high center of experience in this surgery is preferred, and that the risk factors are the least, and this is the most important factor in choosing us,” said.
