Algerian Patient Reopens Her Eye With Dünyagöz Hospital

Zahia Zaid, who was born in Tizi Ameur village in Tizi Ouzou district of Algeria, lost her sight in her left eye due to hereditary vascular disease. She saw again by her right eye with a successful operation performed at Dünyagöz Hospital.

Op. Dr. Fevzi Akkan from Dünyagöz Etiler information about Algerian patient status and the intervention. “Our patient lost her vision completely 10 years ago at the age of 6, because of the hereditary vascular disease that was seen in her uncle before. When my patient came to our hospital, his right eye decreased to 1% of his visual level and said he wanted to evaluate it if she had the slightest chance of seeing it again before the operation. Since Zahia underwent surgery four times before her right eye, the first being at the age of 7, this operation we performed was even more important. Although they said that there is nothing more that can be done after previous surgeries of Zahia in Paris her family didn’t fall into despair and came to us. .After the detailed examinations we made, we decided to perform the surgery. Zahia’s challenging surgery was very successful and her vision went up to 20%. We expect that vision levels will increase to 40% in the coming periods.”
