Acıbadem Maslak Hospital Nutrition and Diet Specialist Özge Öçal listed the nutrients that should be considered in the fight against breast cancer.

  • Sugar: A study by the University of Texas found that mice with sugar in their diet had the risk of developing and metastasizing mammary gland tumors similar to breast cancer in humans. Make sure that your daily sugar consumption does not exceed 5% of the total energy.

  • Oil: Not all oils are bad. However, trans oil formed by the burning of animal oil is known to increase the risk of breast cancer. So avoid frying, fast food, processed foods as far as possible.

  • Red meat: Try not to consume more than 350 – 400 grams of red meat per week. Especially meat sources such as burned, smoked and cured can cause many diseases from cancer to heart diseases because of their carcinogenic components and high salt ratios.
