Balanced Diet Affects Fertility Positively

It is known that obesity has negative effects on both fertility potential and pregnancy. Istanbul Aydin University VM Medical Park Florya Hospital Gynecology, Obstetrics and IVF Specialist Prof. Dr. Banu Kumbak Aygun said that as well as the weight has negative effects on fertility potential, it can also bring back miscarry, premature birth, hypertension at the pregnancy and diabetes.

“Carbohydrate-weighted diet is not recommended for women both during treatment and during pregnancy. It is recommended to eat more protein (milk, eggs, cheese, yogurt, pumpkin seed, lentil, chickpeas …). On the other hand, antioxidant-rich nutrition for egg quality (such as red grapes, plums, green tea, broccoli, carrots, garlic, tomatoes …) may also have positive effects. Again, to increase the quality of sperm, non-smoking, antioxidant weighted diet will be beneficial. During the embryo transfer period, the consumption of saturated fat should be kept low and more attention should be paid to drinking water.”
