Botox Becomes Remedy For Bruxism

When we are asleep, we often unconsciously clench our teeth and creak. Continuous repetition of this condition affects our oral health and our teeth much more than we thought. It can even cause our teeth to crack.

Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Specialist Dr. Nihat Tanfer at Tanfer Clinic explained the treatment of bruxism with Botox injection.

“Botox gets under control the masseter muscles, the largest jaw muscles that help us carry our teeth. The effect of Botox injection varies between 3-12 months with varying quality and personality. In order not to restrict the movement of the mouth and jaw functions, it is absolutely necessary to have it done by a specialist dentist. When injected regularly, the casts become less bulky and there is no need to use Botox over time.”
