McKenzie Technique For Herniation

Nowadays waist and neck herniation or flattening is very common problem. McKenzie technique is extremely effective and safe method for these problems. Medicana International Istanbul Hospital Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Specialist Vildan Çerçi M.D. gave information about McKenzie technique.

Vildan Çerçi said that treatment program is organized according to the severity of the disease. She stated that at mild cases patient is followed only giving training about using spine rightly and McKenzie movement treatment. “In moderately severe cases patient is followed by giving short terms of daily physical theraphy and spine mobilization method with combining McKenzie movement treatment. In more severe cases 10-15 sessions of physical theraphy and spine mobilization methods with combining McKenzie movement treatment and corseted is applied. Painkillers are not particularly used. Monitoring how progressing the development of treatment with pain is very important for this treatment method. Apart from this workouts, giving education about the spine and mechanical disturbances to the patient. Habit of using the spine truely is tried to be given. This is very important. Partial rest may be recommended. If bed rest is very necessary it is not recommended except for the first few days. To avoid prolonged sitting, bending and lifting heavy are the key features during the treatment.” she added.
