Obesity in Cancer is More Risky than Nicotine
To date, nicotine, which is considered to be the main risk factor for cancer, is now being replaced by obesity.
Üsküdar University Faculty of Health Sciences Department of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation a faculty member, Dr. Yıldız Erdoğanoğlu, “Smoking, which causes 25-30 percent of all cancer deaths, is of great importance. To date, nicotine has been considered to be a major risk factor for cancer. According to today’s research findings; being overweight has taken the first place in terms of cancer risk factors even passing through cigarettes,” said.
“Eating more than necessary, having a little exercise and ultimately becoming obese, has a greater impact on the onset and progression of cancer than on nicotine consumption. In overweight women, the probability of cancer development is increased by 90 percent, which is a very high rate. Some types of tumors such as ovarian or cervical cancer, breast cancer, as well as colon and prostate cancers appear in overweight individuals.”
