We Make Mistakes While Using Technological Devices
Technological devices can cause various health problems, from a headache to eye diseases, when they are used incorrectly. Acıbadem Kozyatağı Hospital, Physical Therapy, and Rehabilitation Specialist Prof. Dr. Meral Bayramoğlu explained the mistakes we made while using the technological devices and gave important suggestions.
Mistake: Make a long talk by putting the phone between the ear and shoulder.
Correct: If it possible use headphones while talking on the phone. If you are not using headphones, keep your phone conversation as short as possible.
Mistake: Looking at the device screen for a long time.
Correct: Do not look at the screen for more than 20 minutes.
Mistake: Sit in a way of unsupported and oblique.
Correct: When using technological devices, set your back in a vertical position and supported by a pillow. Your feet should touch the ground fully, the height of your seat or chair should be such that your hips and knees will position 90 degrees.
Mistake: Use the device by putting on the floor or bed and lying face down.
Correct: It is very important that you use the devices not lying face down but in the sitting position.
Mistake: Keeping it below eye level
Correct: It can disrupt the soft tissues supporting the backbone just as the back is forced to the back.
Mistake: To use for a long time without moving.
Correct: Do not neglect to take breaks when using technological devices. Make the 5 to 10 minutes of stretching exercises per hour and the 5 minutes of short interoffice walk a habit. Do not forget to practice exercises that increase the flexibility and strength of the muscles that support your neck, back, and lumbar spine at times other than the use of technological devices.
