You Can Control Diabetes By Exercise

Üsküdar University Faculty of Health Sciences Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Department Assist. Assoc. Dr. Yıldız Erdoğanoğlu stated that diabetes is a disease that can be controlled by correct nutrition, medical treatment and appropriate exercise program and added that exercise is beneficial to diabetes patients in two ways.

“The first of these is to help to control the weight by burning caloric. Another important effect of lowering blood sugar (glucose used by muscles during exercise) and to increase the sensitivity of cells to insulin. Since this effect lasts for approximately 48 hours and then begins to return to normal, it is important to exercise regularly in the long-term drop in blood sugar.”
